James Aspey is a vegan activist and speaker, renowned globally for his unique and effective brand of activism. James has done a bunch of epic things in the name of animal liberation, like going voiceless for 365 days, cycling 5000 km, giving over 150 speeches and getting tattooed for 25 hours!

Stoked human who loves and appreciates life while trying to make this world a more fair and peaceful place.
How would you describe what you do?
The situation is vitally important, desperately urgent and life saving. The work is the same.
Where in the world are you and what are you up to?
I arrive in Wellington, New Zealand this morning, went straight to a high school to speak in front of 250 kids, now I’m chillin listenin to tunes and just remembered I am a few days late replying to these questions!

I’m constantly trying to find the good in the bad. I dive into uncomfortable situations to help myself grow. Vipassana meditation has changed my life and I’m just starting to breakdance.
Why are you vegan?
How could I not be? As soon as I realised we don’t need to eat animals to be healthy what excuse did I have to continue eating them? I don’t want any involvement in beastiality, kidnapping, infanticide, mutilation, torture and slaughter of beautiful, defenceless, innocent animals. Plus, it’s way healthier, better for the planet and the food is amazing.
Can you share with us as easy and accessible way to get involved in activism?
Write posts or make vids on social media, paint thought provoking pictures, make vegan recipes, open a vegan cafè, wear clothing with a message, join street outreach or protest groups, do speeches, write songs, stop talking for a year, get tattooed for 25 hours straight, there are literally countless ways. Do whatever you got to do to get noticed and get the message out there.
If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Banana and mango ice cream with chopped dates and granola.
What are your top 3 tips for building vegan muscle?
Eat enough calories. Lift heavy. Be consistent.
If you could inspire others to take action in order to create a better world, what would you encourage them to do?
Step 1: Go vegan. Step 2: Help others to do the same.
